I cant start my computer because it says: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: Windows\system32\Config\System You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the orginal setup CD-rom. Selet "r" at the first sreen to start repair. Can I fix this problem with my windows xp cd?
use your windows xp cd to get to the dos screen. then type chkdsk c:/f If your computer had a abnormal shutdown, some of the system files might have got corrupted. chckdsk can usually find and fix these problems. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q315265
