Sony 26" HDTV and 1080p upscale DVD player

I recently purchased the Sony KDL26S3000 HDTV and it's hooked up to a Sony DVP-NS57P DVD player. The picture quality is quite good, but I'd like to upgrade the DVD player. Sony has a DVPNS700HB 1080p upscale player that I'm interested in.

(1) Will the upscaling be noticable on my standard DVD movies?
(2) The specifications on the upscale model indicate that in order to take full advantage of this player's features, the TV must have Sony Bravia Sync. My TV has Bravia TheaterSync. Are Bravia Sync and Bravia TheaterSync the same or compatible? I've looked all over the net and can't find anything. Sony has yet to respond back to my inquiry.
