    Hi,

I need some help, real bad. i tried googling for a solution but still cant find any.

Whenever I inserted my thumbdrive to vista, windows media player (wmp) tried to sync with it or trying to catalog it. i dont want my thumbdrive to sync with anything. i checked all options in wmp for a solution and havent click anything that says sync or click anything that allows wmp to take control.

I just dont want wmp to start up whenever I insert my thumbdrive.

    thanks in advance

Can't remember how to do it exactly but when you plug it in, you gotta go into My Computer and right click on the drive, and click properties>autoplay or something similar.

    hi i_am_alex,

thanks but tried it before, but my mouse still flicker, i check the task manager, wmp still trying to sync/catalog the thumhdrive. is there some way to disable wmp from starting up when i insert my thumbdrive. the thumbdrive that's giving me problems is the one with portableapps in it.

Have you tried uninstalling WMP? Personally I have never sued it. I have mostly MP3s which i used iTunes 7 for and then all my videos are either VLC media player or Nero Showtime.

i cant uninstall wmp, i think it is a part of windows. nonetheless, it seems that i managed to minimize the problem. everytime i slot in a thumbdrive, i hit ctrl + alt + delete, open the task manager and end any processes associated with wmp.

anyway, i hope there is a more viable solution out there.

you can uninstall WMP, in the add/remove programs window select windows components on the left. Then uncheck the checkbox next to it. If you want to do it that way.
