Hi, I've just recently purchase a Mac notebook and still kinda new to the whole operation system. Although i really love the OSX but there are some programs that i need to run on Windows.
Here is my problem and question, i hope someone would help me.
    1) The first question got to be: How do i run both operation systems on my mac notebook? or is that possible?
    2) Will the two operation systems (if i can run both) cause any conflicts?

Im grateful for all replies!, Thank you!

you have two options for running windows on your mac

    1 buy vmware or parralles
they are just applications that allow you to have a virtual computer inside of a window on your macs desktop if you are going to be a gamer this is not recommended

    2 bootcamp your mac
bootcamp is an application that will partition your hard drive for windows the application is located at /applications/utilites/bootcamp assistant.app the only drawback to this is that you have to take the memory from your startup drive and dedicate some of it for windows if you decide to do this pop in your install disk install windows on your mac once the install is done pop in your leopard install disk and it will install the drivers for your computer

and there are no conflicts with installing windows on your mac unless you acedentaly overwrite your mac partition

    hope that helps you

    MrPuffin,

I have Tiger installed in the laptop, will Tiger work with Windows for bootcamp?
I think I will look into the VMWare.
    Thanks for the tips.

Well me as what programs you need for windows? there is usually a mac equivalent.
Also as of right now the bootcamp for tiger has expired, to get around that just set the date for 2007 on your mac. i prefer bootcamp it just runs smoother and most likely better compatibly for strange software

    trigga71,

I can just set the date on the clock to 2007 and bootcamp will work on Tiger? I did some research on bootcamp and so far, its only for the new OSX.
I got to try it because man...I'm still not used to Mac yet..
    Thanks for the tips.

you will need to download Bootcamp 1.4 beta (thats the newest release of tiger) google it and find it for download (thats going to be the hardest part. you may even need to find a torrent of it, it was trial ware so i dont see a problem. Then before you install set your clock back in tiger to 2007 and install. The new OXS (10.5 Leopard) comes with bootcamp built in.

since you dont have leopard i would suggest to either search for a torrent for bootcamp beta 1.4 or go into disk utility and manually partition the drive but you still have to find the drivers

if you manualy partition download this just drivers

if you plan on bootcamping have to set dates back*#recomended#*download this
    full bootcamp
