Pioneer 215D slow read and burn

Hi

I have recently installed a Pioneer 215D ata dvd burner, It will read a dvd at 2.7 and only burn around the same speed, it doesn't seem to matter which discs I use, I have some Aone Dual layer 8x and some Verbatim 16X , the burn is fine, just takes a long time.
I have enabled DMA

Has anyone got any ideas??
