I have recently installed a Pioneer 215D atadvd burner, It will rip a dvd at around 2.7X and only burn around the same speed, it doesn't seem to matter which discs I use, I have some Aone Dual layer 8x and some Verbatim 16X , the burn is fine, just takes a long time.
I have enabled DMA. The read and write settings are set at Max, I have tried DVD Fab, Shrink, DVD Decrypter and IMGBurn
two things might be happening here, but without any more information I can only assume things. Your disk that you are trying to copy is having a hard time being read so the drive is slowing down to read the disk. And the disk you are using (Aone) is not a quality disk so the burner is using a genetic write strategy to burn to disk which usually is slow! If everything is processing this slowly then I would suggest to also look at your installation of your drive! make sure everything is installed properly. And DMA is enabled (which you say it is).
what movie are you trying to do
are your programs up to date
what are your specs of your computer
more than likely it's your installation of your drive. or DMA!
Hi
I have already uninstalled the IDE Drivers and that didn't make a difference, The disc or indeed any disc I am reading from are in perfect condition and are either 'Bought originals' or backups normally Datasafe or Verbatim. I still have slow burns when I write to Verbatim and these are rated at 16X , the burning program varies from Nero or IMGBurn or some programs have their own built in software,
My PC is an Athlon 64 4000 i have 2gb of ram. The old burner a Sony u120 worked perfectly, infact I could burn at full speed , whilst on the internet or just generally using the PC, so I am sure it is something to do with the SATA settings, but I am stumped as to what,
I have a SATA hard drive as well and that appears to be functioning normally,
Does that help any one in detemining my problem
Thanks
Hi
I have reformatted and reloaded XP Pro SP2, I have installed Nero 8 and IMGBurn, plus DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15.
I stll can only read and Write at about 2.9X, irrespective of which make of disc I try.
DMA is definately turned on.
I am guessing it could be the drive but would expect burn failures, rather than slow speed.
The Drive is about a month old and has always run at this speed.
Any Ideas ?
I Have just installed the drive in another system and it works perfectly reads at about 16X and burns the same, I have reloaded my system again and checked all bios settings, The only difference between the 2 is my system is SATA 1 and the other is SATA 2, would that make that much difference
That was becoming my thinking, I think I will have to put up with slow reads and burns until I upgrade, or give the SATA to the Kids and get a new IDE Burner.
Thanks for all your help
