Hey people, what would you choose to put in your PS2 in terms of a modchip. Im currently thinking of the DMS 3 modchip, not the version 9 as my PS2 (PAL) is a version 3. Another one that has been recommended to me is the Ripper 2 Gold chip. Im not so sure since i have never heard of it. The 3rd possibility is called a Messiah 2 or something. There is a fourth thats called a Magic 3.1.
Im thinking of getting the DMS 3 chip, but since i know nothing of them, i was hoping someone here could tell me the best one for reliability, for palying PS2 DVD Back Ups as well as CD and for playing imports and possibly NTSC games, though i dont care.
hi, the dms chip is probably the best chip on the market because of the flash upgrade option (and all the special features if you want them) but is also the hardest mod chip to install(also most expensive).dont know any thing about the ripper mod chip.the messiah is a good chip but over the last few weeks there home page has dissapeared (don't know if its permanent or not) so fitting instructions are very hard to find.the magic 3.1 is an old chip that has been around a long time and is quite cheap it works very well with pre v7 consoles(some problems with cretain double check games on v7 consoles)but as far as i know has no problem booting any backups of any kind in v1-6 ps2's
Thanks for the replies. it sounds like the DMS 3 is the chip to go for, i have noticed that the Mesiah website has gone also. I wont be fitting it myself so i dont think it matters too much which one it. I believe the ripper Gold is flash upgradeable also, but id rather go with one that everyone knows.
