Ok, so I've got an IDE hard drive in a USB 2.0 enclosure. I realize how slow the USB 1.1 is on the ps2 slim. First off, is there any way to speed that up? Secondly, is there any way to directly attatch an ide hard drive to the motherboard? And thirdly, if I were to get a USB 2.0 to CAT5 (ethernet) converter and ran that to the network part of the ps2 slim, would that work? Thanks for your help. I do have UBS advnaced, but am just trying to find a way to speed it up.

there is no way to speed up the usb ports.

the only slim ps2 that can accept hdcombo is the v12-v13 ps2 (7000x). anything else must use usb.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8b - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 3.90 m33-3
nintendo ds: limited edition zelda gold

got a whole lot more to list . . .

I have the 7000x version of the ps2. I know about the hdcombo as well. I'm just looking for a cheaper way to get this to work. or a cheaper place to buy it. Thanks again.

no alternatives. hdcombo is the ONLY way to get decent speeds on the slim ps2.

if it is a fat ps2 (earlier models) then you should be able to install it with the network adapter. If it is a ps2 SLIM then you would need a usb enclosure for the IDE hard drive. This converts it from IDE to USB. Plug it in and get UBS Extreme. I wouldn't reccomend this seeing as the ps2 slims only have USB 1.1 and it is extremely slow.
