ps3 blu ray spare drive help?? ASAP

i hav a jap ps3, i broke my eject drive wil trying do swap switch. i lokking at new blu ray drive on ebay but it is pal would it work on my ps3 any suggestions?? wb thanks

I have been curious about this as well. If my 60gig US bluray drive burns out would I be able to replace it with one from another model? For instance If I got a bluray drive that came out of a 40gig Playstation would it work in my 60? Long live my 60gig PS3.

Well since the firmwares are the same for all PS3's I cant see it posing a problem.

The games are supposed to be region free.. The films certainly are not region free. It depends where the region is detected whether the drives will work one machine to another.

More research needed?? Keep us updated how replacing a drive from a different region works out.

I could see reasons being a problem because for the CD/DVD players inside a PC the region depends on what the drive is flashed to.

dont think the ps3 blu ray drive is flashed because if it was would there not b a hack out the flash it or somthing for homebrew like the xbox
