I'm using TMPGEnc to convert avi files to dvd mpeg-2 files. I keep finding that when I have converted the file and then watch it any movement tends to look jerky. I convert all my files using the wizzard to either PAL 4:3 or 16:9 depending on the source. All the other setting I leave to the wizzard (accept for reducing the file size to either 98 or 99%). Is there anything I should be checking on the souce file and altering within the TMPGEnc settings to remedy this. Cheers Wuzzbert
The jerkiness is most likely caused by you encoding NTSC or FILM material into PAL format that have different framerate than PAL has. Always check the framerate of the original video and maintain it when re-encoding -- 99% of PAL DVD players can play NTSC movies correctly anyway, so that's not a problem (problems occur when you have a NTSC player and want to watch PAL movies as typically NTSC players don't work with PAL movies).
Also Make sure that if your Source files are Interlaced to encode them as Interlaced and Make sure the Field order is set correctly because this can cause Jumpy Playback....
There is an option in TMPGEnc that you have to set every time, it's called something like keep aspect ratio. You need to set it before encoding.
