Internet won't work on PSP during games

I have a custom firmware PSP, 3.90 M33-3.

The internet works just fine with the internet browser, but when I try to use it during a game it says "The WLAN switch is not turned on" even though it is turned on. I have no idea what to do. Any help?

is it a slim or a phat psp and did wlan in games work before you upgraded?
