hi, im planning on buying an x box 360 elite this week, i was wondering if there is anything i should know before blowing $500+.Specifically about xbox live and is it certain that the new elite chips are in fact the falcon ones? and what should be the first game i should as i probably only have neough for one game at the moment. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank You.

sorry, one more thing, i dont plan on spending 60$ times 3 on extra controllers, i was wondering if there is a way to connect xbox controllers to xbox 360, cause i have 4 xbox controllers.

would would just buy the pro edition, and my first game would be gta4, not cause its the best but it is the most popular right now, and no you cant use old xbox controllers.

Well. Even the Elite's have a serious failure rate. Many of them are made with the Falcon Chip, but not all. You will more than likely get a "Falcon" model if you go to a retail store. They are however, still prone to the SAME failure rate as the regular PRO systems with the falcon chip (about 16%).

If you are going to spend that much, you might as well get a PS3. Then you wouldn't have to worry about the reliability as it is less than 3%. If you are gaming on a Hi-Def TV with HDMI capability the PS3 is a better option as it supports HDMI 1.3 (as opposed to the 1.2 on the 360). This isn't really a BIG deal, but if multimedia and the plethora of other capabilities the PS3 offers including free online play.

I understand if you are a Halo fanatic, but it seems like you have enough cash to ensure your gaming happiness either way, and I don't want you to be dissapointed with the limitations of the MS console.

I owned a 360 (well, 3 if you count the RROD issues) for a while and the games are great. But with the lineup of titles coming out just this year, the "theres no good titles on PS3" arguement is basically dead. This is especially true when you consider that many of the cross-platform titles have 2-3 gigs more info on the PS3 versions as they do not have to be subjected to rigorous compression to fit on a DVD-9.

Enjoy your shopping man, and don't just pick the PS3 because I reccomended it. I would feel better if you did the research. I've owned both and I came out FAR more impressed with the PS3.

i'm not sure but, i think microsoft has invested a ton of money on their xbox live servers and i wouldn't mind paying 60$ a year, for good service. Is it true that ps3 servers are laggy and all? and what is the difference between the elite and pro, i just decided to get the elite cause if i'm going to end up paying more than 300$ might aswell spend the extra 100 or 200$ and get the best possible for the long run right?

and regarding my tv, i will be running the system on 37" hd tv, 720p is highest, its also got 1080i, i dont know if thats better than 720p

no 1080i is not better than 720p. DOn't worry about failture rate and crappy statistics like that. There are lies, damn lies, and statistics.
