HI all, new to forum but have been reading for quite some time!
Great advice and help on forums often found on google, but this on is tricky to find.
So here goes....
I have flashed my 360 with iXtreme 1.4 8x then 12x
I am burning a game (1st one i've tried) and the xbox is saying unreadable or unplayable disc (depending what mood it is in). The game is picked up in the dashboard and when i press play (actually says the game name and shows recent achievments, not just play game)it loads a black screen, now and then openening titles, stays there while the drive spins and then says unplayable or dirty disc.
This has happened on the 8x and the 12x with no noticable differance on originals other than a quieter drive at 8x. I thought maybe the 12x would help read the backups easier.
The flash went fine all times as originals play.
I am using/have tried
DVDMulleter to check game was created successfully, and ALL combatability boxes are checked including random padding, CRC checks comes back 100% perfect when checked with online database ticked
clone cd or imgburn to write the discs (opening the .dvd file)
aone +R DL discs (apperantly the xbox's are ok with them,?)
my writer is the lite-on 1633s cross-flashed to a 1653s
and i have bit set media to dvd-rom (this is evident after burning with dvdinfo pro)
Xbox has samsung ms28 drive if this determines useable media
Really stuck now fella's I have 4 DL tea-coasters now and verbs are really hard to get hold of plus expensive if things keep going like this. I was hoping to re-burn the games to verbs when money/time allowed as i suspect theyd keep better. I dont want a load of verb coasters as they expensive and pretty crap (the hole in middle doesnt stop your tea staining the table.)
Any ideas help aprreciated!!!
PS havuing troubles bit setting a 1633s PM me.
THankS!

HI, Thanks for the reply, I have read many times on other forums that the Aone discs can be used as an alternative, along with other media, the pc shop where i purchased them told me that no matter what media i will only get 2-3 good discs out of ten, so i thought i might aswell use the cheaper ones. I am by no means saying you are wrong or anything and i understand the verbs are much higher quality, but if people are getting away with using Aone's why cant i?
Also can I ask what are the average success rates with the verbs? I dont fancy buying them to burn 4 coasters in a row....
I am seriously considering the verbs though, its just getting hold of them and paying for them!

The reason people recommend verbatims has more to do with that just whether they burn successfully. It has to do with playability and disc read errors as well, so although some people may have good using these discs, based on what you have described its the discs you are using.
I'd suggest buying a 2 pack of Verbatims and testing it out, i guarantee you get better results than with the cheaper ones.
As far as success rate with verbatims, I'm about 20/20 so far and I've heard of success rates upwards of 100/101. thats a heck of a lot better than 3 out of 10.
The verbatims are expensive yes (typically $2 a disc) but as the old adage goes, you get what you pay for.

E X A C T L Y!
It never fails. Instead of paying $1.50~$2.00 a disc for Verbs, they'll use ~$1.00 cheap media and end up wasting half a spindle or having to reburn the game a few months later because the dye broke down.
People spend more money using junk media than just using Verbs.

While you're waiting for Verbs, you can try flashing the 360 to 5x. You went the wrong way when you flashed from 8x to 12x.
Higher read speeds are for high quality media and faster loading.
Lower read speeds are for cheap media but will load slower.
Also, check and make sure your burners firmware is up to date.
And that salesman which told you that you'll only get a few good burns out of 10, well that's only for cheap media. I've used Verbs since day one and have had zero bad burns out of ~70.
Another thing, I just noticed you didn't mention what speed you burn at. Many, along with myself, burn at 4x. For some who have had d.r.e.s, simply changing the burn speed resulted in a better burn.

I burn the Aones at 2.4x because thats the only speed they support, will try 5x flash when im done ripping a few more games.
Am I right in thinking that xtreme 5.2 will boot a 360game not patched with the pfi and dmi? I did flash to this firmware to try and check the patching on my ISO's they all check out on dvdmulleter and some are in database and come back 100%, but thought it was worth a try lol.
Got one cheap disc left out of ten, got 8 coasters and i burned hotswap disc b4 i give up on that and used the xbox drive.
I Also tried halo 2 original xbox with the 5.2 firmware installed and that came back unreadable disc (original xbox style message) it was on a dvd-5, think they are ritek, will dvd pro when drive free. Should xbox 1 games be burned booktyped to dvd-rom? I mean when put on a dvd-5 for the xtreme firmware and it does it matter if they are + or -?
Many thanks

Yes, 5.2 will boot games missing the dmi and pfi. Also, not that it matters now, but you could have burnt that 0800 iso to a dvd5, as 5.2 does support single layer discs.
Back when I use Xtreme 5.x, I found that my 360 wouldn't read any -r dvd5s, but would read +r.

I did burn the activate (0800) iso to a dvd-5 and xbox reads that fine, It also picked up halo 2 quite quickly but it wouldnt play, both are on ritek -R. Dont know why the 0800 disc works if halo wont, but i didnt backup halo myself as the origianl is too trashed, so im not sure its been done properly.
I also backup my dvd films on these discs (constantly find little chocolate or jam fingerprints over them) and they all play fine on the 360 even before modding. Not sure if its a different kettle though.....
Also I was wondering if you could pull the padding from a xbox360 iso, get rid of video partition and stealth files, burn it to dvd-5 and boot with xtreme firmware???
Obviously graphics will suffer when its shrunk but i just wondered if it was possible as it appears to be do-able by xdvdmulleter.

You can run Xbox 1 games off a single layer, and single layer 360 games were suppose to be supported, but that never followed though.
It's something to do with the layer break.
