Quick PSP Slim (2000 and 2001) question

I've had my fat PSP since launch and I was thinking about grabbing a PSP slim off the internet and using my fat cfw to make a Pandora for the downgrade. I've done some research and I understand that the only way to downgrade and get CFW is with a Pandora battery. My question is, does it matter what model the PSP hardware is? I'm seeing PSP Slim 2000 and 2001 model numbers; does any of that matter?

And this is also probably a stupid question, but does the FW version matter? Anything else in particular I should steer clear of when buying one?

2. Firmware, dosent matter
3. Dont use ur slim battery for the pandora. Best if you use the fatty's battery

go to this site and pick up this battery tool to convert your slim into service mode so u can mod your psp then convert it back to battery mode to power up your psp. I brought one and it work, wish I knew about this before I screw up my phat psp battery.
