When I try to go to Wii Settings menu I get this error:
You tried to access the address marc:FIX?US?ENG?index01.html, which is currently unavailable. Please make sure that the Web address (URL) is correctly spelled and punctuated, then try reloading the page......make sure internet connection is active and check whether other applications that rely on the same connection are working.
How do I fix this? I know WiiFit comes out next week with hopefully new firmware but I heard that if you got the above error that new firmware won't fix it.
We need some more info here. What game bricked the console? Thats kinda important becuase if it was a new game (anything after SSBB) then you're out of luck becuase it was probably bricked with firmware 3.2 which is currently the highest firmware. Wii fit contains 3.2 as well.
If however you bricked with brawl or anything earlier then you can use wii fit or mario kart to fix it, just make sure its the one from your region.
I have the exact same problem. Was at 3.1 I believe, had just upgraded to 1.9s on the WiiKey and I had thought it had some kind of "upgrade protection" so when MarioKart PAL wanted to update I let it, thinking it was protected.
I should have known better =). So it ran the PAL update on my NTSCWii and now I get the error whenever I try to go to settings. I got an email from Nintendo saying to update for the shop channel, but when I click the update button there I get the same error.
Now I'm just waiting for a new update on a new game. But apparently now it seems they are being "scrubbed",

Bushing has released a disc that will fix semi-bricked Nintendo Wii consoles. All that is required to fix your bricked Wii is to burn the disc and then run it (of course this requires a modchip).

I’ve made a disc which will hopefully fix any NTSCWii that got bricked by an imported Mario Kart game (or similar). It is an ISO with one partition — an update partition — and it contains three files:
IOS30-64-v1040.wad
SystemMenu-v289.wad
__update.inf:
System Menu v289 is the newest NTSC version of the system menu available on Nintendo’s download servers; it’s what you will get if you go into the Settings Menu and perform an update. I packed it into a WAD, and maintained the original, valid Nintendosignature, so it should be safe to install. (The disc, however, is fakesigned. This should not be a problem.)
I’m including IOS30 as well, just in case — it’s what this system menu uses. I would expect all systems out there to already have it installed, but hey.
Obligatory warning — I have tested this on 3 Wiis and it seemed to work fine, but I can’t make any promises that it won’t brick your Wii. It contains no safeguards; use this ONLY on an NTSC (US) Wii. If you use it on an NTSC/J or Pal Wii, it WILL BRICK you. (If there is a need, I can make similar discs for those systems.)
Any fix for Jap Wii?? after i loaded the updates from Mario Kart (I think) it is semi bricked.... can I update it back to the right version through another copy of Mario Kart or Mario Galaxy? Any suggestions?
