ok..so I have my wiikey installed.. been find for several months ago. Recently I installed the homebrewchannel and seemed to work. When I ran the homebrew channel for the first time, it seemed to be working but then froze on a 'dos-like' screen with black background/white letters. I left it alone hoping it'll come to its senses but it didn't. After several minutes, I gave up and reset the wii. Wii starts up and looks fine but now it can no longer read ANY discs.. back-ups nor originals. Everything else works perfect but when I put a disc in, I hear it spinning for a few seconds but nothing appears in the disc channel. Going to the disc channel shows the "can't read disc" error. Any suggestions? I'm desperate :-(
i don't think an update caused this problem.. it looked like it froze during a flash. I was running other homebrew just fine before I tried doing it from the homebrew channel, that's when things got screwed up. I often used the twilight hack before this happened without problems.
I'm just frustrated. It seems the only way to get it fixed it using a recovery or setup disc but the problem is that it won't read ANY discs so how the heck can I ever possibly fix this? :(
And you arent semi-bricked, you're totally bricked if you cant read game disks. What homebrew program were you running? I know the wad installer has a risk of bricking the console because of the way it edits the system memory but I dont know how to fix it. Sorry...
well I said semi-bricked bc everything else works fine but I agree, if it can't read discs, it might as well be completely bricked :(
The homebrewchannel appeared fine after I installed it. I was installing a VC game using the homebrew channel. This is when it froze and died on me. I installed several other VC games using the twilight hack without any problems. I just decided to try out the homebrew channel since it was supposidly an easier methods of running homebrew than twilight.
