hi
i have a chipped ps2 SCPH-70012
I want to how to play ps1 games on my ps2?
ps1 games and dvds do not work at the moment.

A good cleaning of the laser wouldn't hurt. Alcohol/cotton swabs will do the trick.

another problem

ps1 gam work on the ps2 but only sometimes
some1 told me that you have to press sqaure to disablthe chip
i did this and it worked he first time but after that it just stopped working

i have cleaned the laser

the disc is in great condition
i just tried on my fiend ps1 and it works everytime.

Try cleaning the second lens (beneath the visible one). This will require Torx screwdrivers ( to get the screws beneath the laser unit itself).
