Not natively, but hacking may allow this.

how do i convert divx to xvid?
There are many warez written for re-encoding AVI files to other formats. I recommend SUPER@. There is not a lot of point in doing this.

where is a good place to get divx files?
They are widely available on the internet. We have all heard of BitTorrent. legallity of it is questionable.

is divx and xivd the same or what are the major differences?
DivX and XviD are both both from the same roots and are both covered in the MPEG4 standard along with H264. They are both based on MS's Video2, which in it self was based on Apples Quicktime. The majority of players that support DivX will play XviD.

The PS3 will play Avi/Divx with no hacking needed, you just need firmware 2.10 or newer.

Why would you want to re-encode from Divx to Xvid? You will just lose quality. If you really want to do it,you could use Avi Recomp.

http://www.videopedia.pl/avirecomp/news.php

"XVID FAQ:

XviD is the name of a popular new video codec which is being developed as an open source project by volunteer programmers from all over the world. The codec is just like DivX based on the highly efficient MPEG-4 compression standard for video. The XviD format is still not as widely used as DivX, but as it's fully compliant with the same MPEG-4 standard XviD movies usually play in DVD players that support DivX
."

So basically one is open source, the other is a proprietary codec.

Piss me off, and I Will ignore You!

Betcha this is one for the books..Just Downloaded Lost Sea 1,25Episodes. Unfortunately U can only get 12 Episodes
on one Disc. My problem, being Ep 24& 25 are joined. So I have to reduce the size to get 13Eps on 1 Disc. Any
program I use (AVI Recomp, Auto GN, DrDivX) will reencode to 83% then shut down. I even split them into seperate
files Ep24 & Ep25, Episode 24 will reduce OK, But Ep25 will go to 83% and shut down. Does anyone have a suggestion on this
or a cure all

That is one way to get your rankings up rick. You posted the same question in about 20 threads.

Sorry if I jumped to the conclusion that you were "Posting for Profit". Still no need to name call.

A wise man (you..lol) once said this talking about a King Kong movie;
"Half of the Blogs posted on this site are way off topic, and I think posted by adolesents, that only reconize fowl language and insults. At least I’m trying to carry on an Informative conversation for some who appreciate this site as I do
What really started from a comment..Which I thought warranted a response..Don’t take offense..Prove me wrong !!"

ugc..Sorry I did kinda word that wrong ( I've already got a good ranking A@#hole). Shoulda been ( I've already got a good ranking it's A@#hole)
I'm not name calling, Sorry bout that. But if you had responded to the Question with some sort of an answer instead of the little snipit pertaining to my ranking. You would have gotten a big hug and kiss from me instead. TRUTHFULLY I don't even know what ranking is
But nobody has helped with my yet. Not even a sorry can't help. But anyway I found a long way around solution.
