advice needed on what linux to choose?

    hi there i have an ibm thinkpad 600e and i want to install a linux that i can still run firefox and my external drive on and also have a fast laptop.

    processor speed is 400 mhz i think.

    ram is 256mb

    hard drive is 6gb hense the reason i still need to use external hehe

    any advice?

    Smaller would be better.. I would try a few of the minimal fast ones on a machine of that vintage.. puppy or tinyme.. Or you could build your own homebrew, which I would do using the debian 2.6.24 kernel.
