Here is what I put in another topic that no one has responded to

When I log into my girlfriends computer only the background loads. The only way the desktop and task bar would load is if I go into task manager and start a new task. Once I start a new task everything loads and the task I started gets an error because it could not be found. After that everything works fine. Before there were lots of viruses and spyware on it but I got rid of them. The machine is completely clean but this problem still exists. I was thinking of repairing Windows but I'm not completely sure it would fix the problem.

If you can get task manager up - look at the resources you are using, is something using up all the ram ? What percent of CPU usage is there when it is trying to start?
If you have the windows disc, a repair can't hurt - unless you can find something thats trying to start and uses all the resources so it stall the windows load that would be my next option. Sorry I have no better ideas. If you can get it running by the way you said, I would copy anything I needed to save and reformat. Hope this is some help.

From what I remember only a couple of things are running at start. everything starts to load when I run a new task. The processor seems to be fine and so does the amount of ram being used. It doesnt seem like anything is causing it to slow down. My assumption is that the viruses she had before corrupted some files in Windows and that is what is causing the problem.
