late usb recognition

    ok i just rebuilt my cokmputer(new hard drive and installed windows) and when ever i plug in a usb revice like my xternal harddrive or my ipod it doesnt do anything it wont even acknowlege theres something its plugged into but a half to an hour later it just randomly starts all my usb devices at the same time just kick in and its getting me aggrivated cause it takes like an hour to recognize my ipod which can sync in like 2 minuts so anyone with advice please help

    your USB port is corrupt somehow.... if its integrated in the motherboard then reinstall your motherboard drivers....

    also i have never had a "cokmputer" before and never used certain "revices" like the "Xternal" Hdd sorry i had to quote....

    couldnt help my self :) dont hurt me

    No offense Munkyears, but your punctuation and grammar is far from perfect in your post.

    Armyman, if this occurs with all your USB ports it's a USB chipset problem. Reinstalling the chipset drivers might help, but you could have a faulty chipset, which means a faulty motherboard. If you only use a couple of USB ports you can buy a PCI card with some on, but if you use lots, you may want to consider getting your motherboard replaced - again, provided reinstalling chipset drivers doesn't work.

    ummm i dont know why but its now working fine and i really didnt do anything to it but hey i cant complain
    i think it might have been a virus though i hadnt run the scanner in months
