sys froze in mid tmpgenc conv. can i salvage?

i finally got to the point where i could start a conversion to avi with tmpgenc. the avi that i do have plays fine in windows media, but the problem is that the sys froze in the middle of the conversion. i had to reboot, the partial file that is there still has all the data that was encoded up to the freeze, and i want to salvage the progress. i go into tmpgenc and try to load project, thinking i can dig up that partial avi, but it wants a *.tpr file. am i screwed? should i convert again, but this time try to save it as a format of *.tpr, that way, if i freeze again, i can salvage the progress?? i know i am asking a lot of Q's here, but i am a newb. i did look in the forums for such a problem, but didnt find any. thanks
