Hey, got a Q about my set up. I have an 42'' Insignia 1080 p lcd tv.

It has all the hook ups component composite hdmi

I have an xfx Video card that have 2 dvi's and an s video

I bought a adapter cable from cablesmart that adapts dvi to hdmi

Hook it turn on tv and PC select hdmi 2 on tv and it says 1p sd with a black screen.

I believe the dvi male part of my cable is a dvi-d single link could this be a problem?

Unsure how to proceed to rectify this @%$7
    Any Suggestions?
    Thanks
    Bul

Your set-up is almost the same as mine but with a Toshiba LCD.
My GFX card is an XFX 8600 GT with two dual-link DVI connections and the 7 pin HDTV ouput.
The DVI single link is not the problem. This will easily support 1920 x 1080i HD resolutions.
But you need to double check a few things as follows:
    1) Your HDMI input most probably will only recognise HDTV signals such as 1080i or 720p therefore if your PC is sending out a Vesa standard res such as 1280 x 1024 it will not be recognised.
    2) You should use dual-view mode in the nvidia display options. To enable this to appear as an option you may need to ensure that you switch the TV on first and onto the relevant HDMI input and then boot the PC. Once this is acheieved various HDTV additonal settings will appear in the nivida options that you can play with. Most importantly, being able to adjust "FLAT PANEL SCALING". Adjusting this will compensate for Overscan where any program windows you open will be "too big" for the screen.
Also remember you will see no "Desktop" in dual view mode and you need to "drag" open program windows over to the HDTV whilst they are in a small window mode. Then once on the HDTV you can maximise the window such as powerDVD for video playback.
