I am converting cassettes to CD with Audicity software, then from wav files to a CD. Wav files play great through WIN MediaPlayer, but when I try to burn the files to CD, it seems like their burinig OK. When I play back the CD with MediaPlayer, tracks 1-7 play fine, but tracks 8-14 flutter and have an echo kind-of sound.

I've tried to burn the CD's with several different burning softwares, including Nero 6. I've also tried different types of CD-R's like Memorex and Taiyo Yuden.

Does anybody know what the problem could be and how to fix it?

    Thanks in advance.

Got some help and fixed the problem. As posted, converted cassettes to wav files to burn to CD. The fix was to convert the wav files to mp3 then burn the mp3 files to CD. Now the burned CD's play in all of my cd players including the boom box in my bedroom.

    Softwares used:

Audacity to convert cassettes to wav files
Switch to convert wav files to mp3 files
Nero 6 to burn the CD's.

Using Taiyo Yuden CD-R's . The sound is great and I couldn't be happier.

I go straight to flac with audacity, then split the files for tracks and burn them with no gaps using k3b..(more like an EAC archiving of a historic vinyl record than anything) works perfectly for me so it may be more of a nero 6 problem than a wav problem. Have you checked all your codecs for any conflicts? You will be losing quality by converting to mp3.. possibly if you do need to convert, a lossless format such as flac might be far better.

Hunt out dbpoweramp .. it does the lot, but isn't freeware as such. **grins**

Rather new to this. How do you get from Audacity to Flac? Just pulling up Audacity, I see Export as..., but nothing else.

Thanks for any instruction you can give me.

Just went into Audacity preferences and found additonal file formats and flac was there. Could I simply export to my folder as a flac format and then drag and burn the cd with Nero?
