    Hey guys,

I've pretty much posted this on every forum I can think of and still no resolution. Ok here goes. I purchased a Dynex 42" 1080p TV and wanted to use my PS3 with it through the HDMI inputs. When I attached the cable, I got picture but no audio. I figured it was the TV so I exchanged it and had the same exact issue. That's 4 HDMI inputs tested, and none of them output audio. So I thought "Ok maybe it's my PS3" so I took my PS3 and hooked it up via HDMI (the same cable) to my other Dynex and my Samsung HDTVs and it worked. Ok, so it's not the PS3 either. Maybe it really was the inputs. So I hooked up my HD cable box to the new Dynex via HDMI and...AUDIO AND VIDEO!!! WTH?? Now I am just totally confused. The PS3 works with all my TV's except the new one, and my new TV's HDMI inputs work with all my devices except the PS3! What in the world could possibly cause this?? Is there some setting somewhere I'm missing...please help!

How do you have the audio setup on the PS3? Go look at your settings. Maybe whatever audio settings you are trying to output, via the PS3, is not excepted with the Dynex. You might also have it set to output via a optical cable and not HDMI.

Also, how old is the tv? Is it HDCP compatible? Sometimes if you have it hooked up to a non HDCP compliant tv, one or two of those settings will not work.

I.E. Audio but no video, video but no audio OR both.

The tv is actually brand new, and I would use an optical cable but I don't have a receiver...so that's out...I can't imagine it being non-HDCP compatible because I've had another Dynex a 32 inch, for over a year and it works fine with the PS3...makes absolutely no sense...

I'm not saying to use an optical cable. I'm saying maybe that's what you have the PS3 audio settings to output through. If you do have it setup like that, that could be one of the reasons you aren't getting audio. How do you have your audio setup in the PS3?

It has to be something wrong with the audio settings either on the PS3 or your tv, most likely the PS3.

Oops sorry, I misread your post...no its set to output HDMI audio and video, and still doesn't do it...so strange, because my cable box will work on the same TV through the same HDMI input with the same HDMI cable, but the PS3 won't. BUT...the PS3 will work with the same HDMI cable on another TV! So did I buy the one TV that's not compatible with a PS3!! What are the odds of that...lol...

Ok, so it's set to output via the HDMI cable. But what audio format is it trying to output? Maybe you have it set to 5.1 or 7.1. Change it to 2 channel stereo and see what that does.

Oh I tried that lol...and every other obvious thing you can think of! It just won't work. Someone on another board told me maybe the TV doesn't output higher sampled frequencies that the PS3 gives out, but why would the cable box work then? Does it use lower frequencies or something? Damn it's a good TV but this is ridiculous!

All I can think of is that it has something to do with the settings somewhere in the PS3 or on the tv. Maybe someone else can come along and help.
