Philips DVP5982 plays movies half time?

    just got a brand new Philips DVP5982 today from amazon,
    i notice it will play my movies sometimes,
    it will play the same movie and then wont play it again,
    i have to eject it in and out a few times to play,
    or tap the top of the dvd player to pick it up,
    this is from a brand new movies with no issues,
    what could be wrong,
