Is it easy to Jailbreak an Ipod touch and also is there any reason for doing this, as what are the benefits? Sorry to ask such a noobish question but I relaly dont want to try this and mess up a brand new Ipod!

We were all noobs at once so don't worry about that. Jailbreaking has more advantages that (barely) disadvantages. You get to have all the Third-Party applications you want from the Installer.app and plus they are free. ON the downside i don't see anything apart from the fact that the installer app is a resource intensive application that doesn't run so smoothly as on the iPhone. Trust me i know from personal experience.
