hi all, i have read the other related topic but none of those suggestions worked. here is my system config - which has worked perfectly through several format/reinstalls over several years on two different machines at once, but THIS time isn't working, only on THIS computer. it still works on my other one (but of course that one has a different fixed local IP & different uTorrent port, of course).
uTorrent version 1.6.1, showing orange light which changes to red after about 15 mins)
DHT disabled
UPnP disabled
port 32450 specified
windows XP Pro (firewall OFF)
Zone Alarm Pro (firewall ON, uTorrent full access enabled AND port 32450 specified in security exceptions)
Dynalink RTA 1335 router, port 32450 forwarded for TCP/UDP
local fixed IP: 192.168.1.115
router settings have NOT been altered from previously working state since last format/reinstall of computer
the light WAS turning green periodically, but now refuses to do so. even with zone alarm shut down, it still was orange/red and the checker site still said the port isn't open.
Is that the default port for utorrent, if so change it to one over 10,000 (34,450 here)? And to make sure it stays set, uncheck randomize port. DHT can be used for public sites, not for private. It's recommended not to use UPnP but try it enabled and see if that helps. Does fixed ip address mean static you set, check at Command Prompt to ensure it's not changing? Could be your ISP throttling, do you see it here: http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Bad_ISPs or maybe someone knows if you don't
it is not the default port, i deliberately set 2 separate ports in port forwarding for both my computers, and both have separate fixed local ip addresses in TCP/IP properties, which show up in ipconfig and do not change on reboot; the same ones they have had for 3 years straight. every other reinstall of my system has been fine, both uTorrent installations on both computers have been fine, green light etc.
only this time has the latest install (with all the same software) and setup given any issues. and sometimes the light goes green... but over the past week or two is has not done so.
i still can connect and download but not very high speeds.
The port check light and main page light showing red, for now, may not mean anything. When I first installed utorrent, all I ever saw were red lights when I knew that couldn't be right and after a week or two, those lights went green and I never saw a red again. How about Protocol Encryption: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/395674 Edit: try connecting directly to the modem to see if things clear up.
It may mean a great deal. Are you using Comcast or Cox? If so you may be out of luck! They are using a robot app to attack torrent nodes. It has gotten far more leathal rescently. I am hunting for a work around like forwarding.
oh... im in NZ, never heard of them
but my ISP isnt blocking, because my OTHER computer works, which is wired thru the same router - and they both used to work...
Don't know (wasn't my ISP) but that's exactly what BitTornado was doing to me but only on one of two computers with the same connection. The light had been green but now was only yellow changing to red after fifteen minutes. Funny thing was, speeds stayed fine and the other computer was fine but eventually that changed to black and I couldn't connect on either. That's when I switched to utorrent and got red lights that eventually changed to green and sytayed that way after a week or two.
