    Hi
I have just built a system with the following spec

    asrock ALiveNF7G-HD720p R2.0/R5.0 Motherboard

    AMD Athlon 64x2 5200+

    Monitor is an Advent mw19e

I was running this with the Nvidia Geforce 7050/nForce 630a MCP on board graphics with no problems. this is just using a vga cable to connect the monitor.

    I have now installed a

Sapphire ATI RADEON HD2900 PRO 512MB Graphics Card

card is connected via ,dvi to vga adapter, then vga cable.

now the screen is all messed up. difficult to describe but its almost like there is a problem with the monitor screen. best way to describe it is its like someone has put something on the screen covering up bits making it difficult to read whats behind the glass of the screen.

Gone back to the on board graphics and its ok again. Does this mean this monitor is not compatible with the graphics card?

I hope there is enough info here for someone to give me some help

Might be a bad DVI/VGA adapter. I've had a few clients that had the same problem. Then again, the DVI output on the video card could be bad. Might be worth exchanging just to see. But I would suspect the adapter.
