I recently bought a spindle of Maxell CD-R Pro that is different from my previous versions. The hub is fogged rather than transparent, and the hub numbers begin with HH77. What company made these? THANKS

Probably Ritek since Maxell made a deal for Ritek to manufacture all Maxell optical discs except Blu-ray.

Hey Joe, aren't the Maxell CD-R Pros made in Japan? I know the regular ones aren't. My Pros ID as TY's.

andrews27, download Nero CD-DVD Speed 4.7.7.15 (it's free) and use the disc info tab to ID.

TY is about the only CD-R/DVD+/-R manufacturer left in Japan. I forgot about the Maxell Pro line being made by Taiyo Yuden.

Wal-Mart has stopped selling CDR-Pro and CVD-Pro Photo, another reason not to shop there. I bought 4x25 spindle online and the TY discs I received are lighter weight than my last retail purchase, have paler cyan coloring, and so far sound a bit tinny - I'm sorry I didn't sample around a bit.
