Ok ive search thru google so much my eyes are ready to bleed. I have the 40 gig version of the ps3. I have this hd docking station

along with 2 seagate 7200.10 hard drives(one is 320 the other is 250). im trying to use one of them to play my movies off of. I have used
fat32format(command line)
fat32formatter(gui)
SwissKnife.
Every instance i can verify that my hd has been formatted to fat32. I even had the folders in the drive set up (VIDEO, PHOTO, MUSIC,GAMES) When i attach the drive to my ps3 it wont see it at all. My thumb drive work fine but i cant get an externad hd to work. I want to know if any of you using and external enclosure/external hard drive please let me know what brand/model you have that works on your ps3

ps If i were to replace my internal hd it has to be
5400 laptop hd but should it be a sata 1.5 or a sata 300?

hi.. i had a similar problem. it turned out that my ps3 did not like the external USB enclose. I own 4 enclosures, and only 1 did not work with the ps3. it was not the hard drive. so it might be that the ps3 will not work with your enclosure. if you have another one, try it instead.

SATA is backwards compatible but your PS3 will only use 1.5. You might as well save the money and just get a 1.5.
