Could i use a different dvr for directtv

    i'm thinkin about getting direct tv and i'm not tryin to pay monthly for one of their dvrs. is there a certain one that i could look for that would work with their signal?

    I don't believe you can. Directv is making their own DVRs now. IF, you don't mind recording in SD, you can use your computer with a capture card. Plus, I would use beyondTV software to run it. You can connect it all up to where your computer can change the channel on your IRD so you can schedule recordings.

    But.....

    The best way to go. Pay Directv and use THEIR DVR. This way, is much easier, and you can record HD content too.
