which DivX / XviD encoding software is the best in terms of quality

As above, I need to convert some DVD format video to AVI format. Which convertor would u guys recommend? Quality is the key.

Dr. Divx or AutoGK are often recommended here.
Virtualdub if you know what you're doing - since it gives complete
manual control.

Quality is largely a factor of the codec and the settings/bitrate/
file size used. That's why autoGK and similar work well, you're
getting the benefit and experience of someone who figured all these relationships out.
