Please help. What's the proper HDTV/DVDR/SS setup??

I have an HDTV, a Rogers Cable Box, a Phillips DVDR 3575, and a surround sound system. What is the best way to hook everything up? I have lots of Component Cables and HDMI's to use. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

HDMI for video and for your audio out if possible S/PDIF for all your audio connections running through one wire!

other wise for audio feel free to connect them normally

1080p though HDMI is top-brass and if available should be used:P
