i want to capture about 5 hours of old video to DVD. Here is my equipment. Tell me if it's possible: 1. E machines with 1.4 gthz processor, 256KRAM, 40 gig HD, Composite video in. 2. Emprex DVD writer. I have successfully captured video and it plays back well. I just can't get it to play on my Mintek 2200 DVD player. However, I can get it top play back video CD, but of course the quality isn't too good (somewhat pixilated). I tried using Windows Movie Maker II that I downloaded from microsoft, and I like it, and it's easy to use. So tell me, is there any hope? Oh, and I'm using DVD -R disks.
Well, Its certainly do-able for you to make a dvd. You dont have the most optimal set-up, but you should be able to find an acceptable solution. As far as your DVD not playing, you have a few variables you need to nail down. 1) Make sure your dvd is authored correctly. Put it in your dvd-rom and see if a windows DVD player can play the disc liek a normal dvd. 2) If 1 is yes, then make sure your dvd player can play dvd-r. There are lists on the net for players compatibility. check it out.

No, the computer will not play the disk either. I'm using AVMedia DVD EZMaker, which has the card and the DVD authoring software for making menu's and stuff. It's pretty easy to use. Like I said, I can do the video CD's, just can't get it to play a DVD I make. I am doing it in NTSC format. Even though the DVD player says I can play DVD-R, maybe I should try DVD+R?? Any other steps I can take??
