Hi , hope Im not in wrong section! apologies if I am , I have an archos 705 wi fi , two questions one I am told my wi fi enabled 705 archos doesnt need anti virus software to protect it whilst surfing the net , I got no sense from archos themselves as I asked what i needed to protect my new toy from the usual gauntlet of malware , if I dont need any protection i presum I could scan it for trouble via my laptop which has panda 2008 on it , secondly what do I need to add to my old thinkpad or desktop to make it wi fi enabled , I have bought a belkin wireless notebook network card ieee 802.11b/11mbps which i think slots in side of the a20m laptop , but I no nothing about wi fi only there are many types of cards modem dongles etc I want to be able to set up my archos safely to surg via my cable broadband connection any help appreciated
i don't believe the Archos needs anti virus and in order to get the laptop on wireless you need to install the wireless card in the side, and then get a wireless router if you don't already have one and set that up and have the laptop discovery the signal that the router sends out in order to pick up the signal.
