   my external hard drive is a hitachi deskstar 80 gig and the light of the hdd lights but the disk inside doesn't work i don't fell the vibration how could i recover my important files etc...

   is it still under warranty? if not under warranty then take the drive out of enclosure & connect internally to pc.
