After searching the web for a while, I've come to the conclusion that there is very little out there software wise that will back up all of windows Vista like XP use to do. In XP the back up program saved everything down to the windows files and installed programs. All Vista does is backup your pictures, vids and documents. It even states that programs, installation files and window files will NEVER be backed up! Anyone know of any software that will back up everything? Granted my HP has software to make a recovery disk, it only makes a disk to restore the laptop back to original factory settings. I don't have a need for those kinds of disks since my HDD has a recovery partition. Plus it'll get me right back to where i am already, having to REINSTALL everything. Please help somebody!

    Hey CODO69,

I did some looking because yes Vista Home Basic and Premimum don't have the Complete PC backup. Bummer. But there are some options, however this appears to be a hotly debated question about which is the best. So here are several that I heard work with Vista. 1) Acronis True Image Home 11 2) Norton Ghost 14 3) Retrospect HD Express 4) Paragon Drive Backup. Now please be aware many said that Acronis was buggy? Others said it wasn't. Haven't used it myself so I can't say for sure. Just wanted to let you know that.
Hopefully one of these will help you out though.

I use Acronis for all my backups (even Vista) and I have had no issues. If it fails it will let you know straight off the bat that it failed, you can even verify the image to make sure it is good and not corrupt.

    Good luck BTW :)
