If you want a Falcon and not get stuck with a Hitachi I say nothing under 0741. To avoid the new Lite-on which can't be modded get nothing over 0816. 0817 and higher lot numbers seem to have a 50/50 chance of having a Lite-on according to 360drives.com.

Cheers Memnock,
Picked up an Elite today, 0750, BenQ.
All the premiums in stock were 0819, so had to bite the bullet and get one while I could. Happy days.......
Cheers

I got lot 0818, team FDOU, and I do believe its a Ben-Q. If it looks like the Ben-Q on that site, then its a Ben-Q, right?

No it doesn't mean it's a Benq. I filtered by 0818 lot number on the site and 8 hits came up. 6 out 8 were Lite-ons. So I'd say you probably have the new Lite-on drive.
Good job ipoddock,
People better get these Benqs while they can, because they are gonna be scarce and highly desired pretty soon.

Yeah, thats what I'm coming up with too. Well, if there is no way to tell whether or not its a Ben-Q without voiding the warranty, I have an older 360 I got from a friend, and I mean first run, sounds like a jet taking off ... lol ... that I can butcher and make 3 RROD proof and flash that drive instead, I was just hoping I could do this new one that I just got from Nyko to replace the one their intercooler fried. How do you guys feel about me opening up this old one, can I spoof a new dvd rom, can I provide adequate cooling, can I ensure a healthy long life for it?

Hi all, i'd like to ask you if it would be a stupid thing to buy a xbox 360 Elite Pal version with Lot: 0739 Team: FDOU
Would i miss out on the Falcon one?

It'll be a Falcon for sure, but you risk a chance of getting a Hitachi 0079.

though it seems like the chance of gettin a Hitachi is quite low, because when i check the 360driver.com list it seems like none with the hitachi have been reported here in sweden or in the nordic part of europe. But i guess with my luck i'll pick one for sure :P
