Is there a way to burn a home movie 6 GB to a DVD-R that is 4.7 GB? Has anyone here used the program DVD Shrink? Would that do the job? Thanks
Thanks for the reply, but can someone give me a detailed reply. Also, is there a free program that is similar to DVD Shrink?
Not to my knowledge 1) start shrink 2) on shrink upper toolbar check open files 3) find the home movie file on pc 4) on upper tool bar of shrink, click back up 5) set back up target as image (iso) file (note name of backup file for future reference) 6) click OK 7) let shrink do it's job 8) burn (remember the name?) newly created image file with Imgburn, free from www.imgburn.com 9) that's it
eddie57, You probably would have recieved at better first response. DVD Rebuilder is similar to DVD Shrink, but the quality should outshine it tremendously...you pay for the quality in time as it takes considerably more time to process movies. For more ideas see here ~ http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/673257 Are you not happy with DVD Shrink?
There is a program Godian Knot. Google that. I used it only a few times and it encodes to size you set. Its a weird program in that it has companion software that pops up as your ecoding. So read as much about it and don't freak out during the process. It took about an hour or so to compress a 4.7 movies to a 700meg AVI. and you get just a simple crawl bar to mark progress and there are 3 processes (I think) before its done. Only thing I have found that is free and does the job. You have to really like the stuff your encoding or not worth the "World of Warcraft" time to have off line while its working its magic. But it does a great job. JamJells
Thanks everyone for the detailed replies. I will see what I can do with all that info. No experience with DVD burning or shrinking whatsoever. Happy 4th of July Weekend to all!
