Why does Automatic Update and Microsoft Update show "Update for Outlook 2003 (KB943649)" when I do not even have Outlook installed into my PC? I have removed Outlook Express from Add/Remove Windows Components and did not choose to install Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 using custom install when installing Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003. Why does this update show when I do not even have this product installed?

    Thanks

I don't really know but that update lets outlook 2003 work with windows live mail, do you use windows live mail? Something that live mail adds to your user profile may be getting mis-identified as outlook hence automatic updates thinking you need that update.

If not that I would guess some component that is shared by outlook and other programs is installed on your pc and that might be wrongly getting identified as outlook 2003 itself. Does it work if you let it try to install?

Thanks for trying to help. I actually just sent an email to Microsoft. They told me to reinstall Automatic Updates and it fixed the problem.
