I have successfully backed up a number of movies using Ifoedit but one thing puzzles me.
When I use it to recreate the VOB's (either to strip out extras or split to two discs) I get to choose which audio streams I want, then on the next screen it has a list of vobld's, none of which are normally ticked.
Sometimes there is only one, sometimes there are many.

    What are they?
How do I know which to keep (I have been ticking them all up until now)

Those are used to strip stuff from the DVD. If you leave something unchecked, it will not have that part of the dvd in your final VOB files. I only care about the movie so I strip everything else. In the IFO file that pertains to the movie, it shows program chains (ex: PGC_1)..and shows what VOB id's it uses. So when I Strip the movie I only check those VOB id's. Now the final VOB files will contain just the movie.

Many thanks, I thought that was an L not an I in vobid (on the screen that I mentioned) which is why I was deeply confused.
It also explains why I couldn't find it in a search of the forums :lol

I wondered where these vobid's that are mentioned were referenced. The joys of being a dullard.
