    Hi,

I used to use CA internet suite 2008. I no longer wanted to renew it and proceeded with an uninstallation. I successfully removed all components bar the parental controls since it asked me to type in my administrator pass which I'd put as something complicated and then forgot.

I then proceeded to request my pass be send to my e-mail address. I appeared to work. Only I never received the e-mail.

As a last resort I attempted to directly delete the CA folder that was in Program files. If removed most of the files, but not all since they were read-only and it wouldn't let me change the attributes.

CA is still identified as installed but I can't get to the unistaller or do anything because the files no longer exist.

I've been trying to install my copy of Kaspersky 2009 Internet security but it detects that CA is installed and will not allow me to proceed without removing it 1st only I can't.

How do I get around this problem????

    Thc

this is what happens when people create admin passwords without fore thought you see u now need that password to remove the componenets installing kapersky could cause problems and u still have CA remnants installed in your system. I still maybe able to help you and would reccomend you back up all your important files to disc or flash drive inlcuding your favorites. What kind of PC do you have? If its Emachines, HP, Compaq you can boot up into safe mode there will be a user name ADMIN there is no password for this account log into it go to control panel and create a new user name that is an administrator now delete your current user name and don't save the files reboot into your new user ID with any luck you will not have CA listed there additionally you can try to uninstall CA while in the Admin account. This has worked on in some instances but you should never rip out the engine and then expect to unninstall its parts seperately and use passwords you will remember a good tip for admin passwords are something written on your pc in lower case and your initials in caps this way no matter what pc your on you will know what your admin is.
