When starting the Macbook Pro, it does the usual sound, but then shows a blue screen and then images of what looks like a mouse and battery installation instructions. But then it stays there. No mousepad or keyboard function. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Sounds like your mouse and keyboard are d.o.a (DEAD ON Arrival)

There are several things you can try.

    1. plugin a external keyboard and mouse and see if the machine boots.

    2. are you running leopard the reason i ask is unless you installed 10.5.4 manually it will cause major issues if you used the software update option with this update.
