    Hi all,

firstly, can I say what a great site this is, very helpful.

I've dug out my old chipped crystal xbox, and want to start using it as a media centre again.

I originally had it chipped, but cant remember what chip is in it. Is there an easy way of finding this out.

I have backed up my hard drive contents as I have Evox installed (how do i find out version of this too?) As I am aiming to take out the original hard drive and put a larger one in so I can watch tv episodes off it.
While I'm installing a fresh drive I thought I may as well update all the software on it to its newest versions (XBMC/EVOX etc) so it will be running as best it can.
But some software says you cant install it if you havent got certain chips etc.
Hence my original question, I dont want to jump in ham fisted and mess it up as its been a while since I have messed with xbox.

Any Help greatfully received, if you need any more info, please let me know. Ta.

The dash itself should tell you the version of Evox. Look at all the corners of your main menu and it should show the version. If not then load any skins you have on it....one is bound to tell you what version you have. If not then try going under settings and search for the information. To find out what chip you have, I THINK the only way you can find out is if you open the xbox and actually look on the chip.

    Cheers for the reply :)

I have since put the bigger hard disk in and have evox, XBMC and some apps installed on it, did all using the auto installer 4.21, which was straight forward; does everything it sez on the tin :)

I have also been looking in the settings (I now have unleash X on there now instead of Evox, (but this is just the front end, right?)
Under some app or setting I went into it lists about 4 bios', but it doesnt say which, just have the md5 Hash.
Well I dont think it matters now which chip I have, its all working so jobs a good un.

Thanks for the help again! Much Appreciated.
