Well cd-rw.org posted on this brand a while back so I can't reply to his post. FYI this is what he posted: cd-rw.org Admin 3 Jun 2002 5:59 PM Prostore Multispeed 24x 80min ATIP: 97m 17s 06f Disc Manufacturer: Moser Baer India Ltd. Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine) Media type: CD-Recordable Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849) I have heard of this manufacturer, but this is the first time I see it sold in this area. I have done some testing with audio and PSX and so far so good. These discs have a VERY STRANGE coating that has a rubber-like feeling to it. The surface of the coating feels like a surface of a basketball or something similar. The Finnish PC SuperStore chain is selling these for a fair 7,95EUR for a 10-pack in slim cases and also available is 50-spindles. However this is the ATIP from the pack I bought: ATIP: 97m 28s 26f Disc Manufacturer: Multi Media Masters & Machinery SA Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine) Media type: CD-Recordable Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849) Mine were bought in the UK in 10 packs with paper sleeves, at a great price. They're pretty good although audio CD players don't like 100% e.g. when you fast forward through a track. EDIT: After burning more of these CDR's, I now find that they play perfectly in audio machines. So all in all highly recommended.
They are the same disc. I've had the 4M Prostore discs and the MBI ones, and can confirm they are both MBI -- MBI often release discs with 4M ATIP or even 972700. Very decent media for not much money.
I couldn't reply to the original post because: "It is already over 45 days since last post to this thread, you're not allowed to post here anymore."
I bought 2 more packs of those Prostores 1st disc was: 97m 17s 06f Moser Baer 2nd disc was: 97m 28s 26f 4M And now the 3rd disc is: Manufacturer : unknown Code : 97m17s06f Disc Type : CD-R Usage : General Recording Layer : Dye Type 6: Short Strategy (Phthalocyanine) Recording Speed : n/a Capacity : 79:59.74 703 MB Additional Capacity : n/a Overburn Capacity : 82:48.72 (727MB) I am quite sure that discs have identical characteristics and performance. Note the overburning test - that sounds kinda large capacity, or does it? Pls people, try the Nero CD Speed and especially the overburning test feature.
Kieofwoo, The forum doesn't allow new users to re-open threads older than X days. This is to prevent chaos, since people wonder in from Google (etc.) and post off-topic questions of ancient threads. I raised you to a "member" instead of newbie so now you can post to any thread.
Thanks cd-rw.org, nice to be a member I really like these cd-r's I can't do the overburn test though, as my cd writer is from olden times... See ya around!
Interesting post that cd-rw.org -- you have 971706 discs there which have already been ID'd as MBI then a second batch of 971706 is "unknown"? Weird :/ MBI discs are well known for their overburning capabilities. That result is nothing out of the ordinary. They are definitely the same media aren't they? You'll find that most MBI media has (MB) in the serial code somewhere.
Hi, I just bought a 10-pack of slim-boxed 80 minute CD-R's from the local Lidl-supermarket. These are branded as Octron CD-R 80. They are 32x speed, and this is what CDR Identifier says obout them: ATIP: 97m 17s 06f Disc Manufacturer: Moser Baer India Ltd. Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine) Media type: CD-Recordable Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849) and this is what Nero CD-Speed says: Manufacturer : unknown Code : 97m17s06f Disc Type : CD-R Usage : General Recording Layer : Dye Type 6: Short Strategy (Phthalocyanine) Recording Speed : n/a Capacity : 79:59.74 703 MB Additional Capacity : n/a Overburn Capacity : not tested As of yet, I don't have any idea of the quality, but they didn't cost peanuts exactly, about 8 euro's...
That's good to know... Anyway, here is a german-landuage rating of the product, only these are 16x http://www.pcwelt.de/tests/hardware-tests/rohlinge/23146/
CD-RW.org: I wouldn't recommend using CD-Speed 1.0 to ID the discs, most manufacturers are unknown to it, including Moser Baer, GAT, and a lot of others, it has a smaller database than even the unuptaded CDR-ID...
Yes, I've noticed that too, as you can see it from my ATIP-post up there... But, I think that the library of known CD:s will be updated frequenly, as the software will gain more users...
Yes I have notivced the flaw of CDSpeed. Also the overburning capacity database doesn't quite seem to work. I've tried mailing the author, but no response. We all could try to reach him? http://www.cdspeed2000.com/
