Im having problems trying to boot from CD. my computer is freezing everytime after I login after all the initial startup programs finish. I can boot to safe mode fine and everything works so I know its something that im running. I need to figure out what is causing it to blow up. Im trying to reinstall Windows but I cannot get my xp disc to boot up when i reboot. BIOS sees it and I can reinstall it from the desktop but I need to reformat both of my harddrives and get everything fresh. Any help and/or ideas to fix my problem?
change the boot sequence in the bios so that the cd rom is 1st & the hd is 2nd. check motherboard manual or user guide on how to do that.
I have done that, the CD drive comes first then removable then HD... I even took the HDs out of the boot sequence and it still boots to the HD.
sounds like your cd is not bootable. is it an original xp cd or a copy? have you tried the cd on another pc to see if will boot off the cd or not?
Yes it has formatted other computers without a hitch and i used it on this computer previously... another computer was formatted with it not but two days ago
if disk is ok then try another rom drive. also try washing the disk with soapy water & dry with a soft cloth as found that to work sometimes.
