This thread is my attempt to bring all of the great minds on this site together in an effort to see whats up with the DRM on the video downloads that have been added to the Playstation Store. I'm wondering if there is a possibility in circumventing the time-restrictions on the rentals?? I havn't downloaded anything as of yet (its late here), but I'm wondering how this is all working?

I would encourage others to post what they know here.

... I'm sure Ryu77 has already looked into this a bit. ;-P

Is this for the US only as when I had a look earlier I couldn't find it? I'm in the UK.

Yes, apparantly its IP locked meaning if your IP doesn't originate from the U.S. they wont let you access it.. even if you have a US account. Apparently people think you may be able to get around this by using a US Proxy... but no word on it yet.

I was just going to say that, if that didn't work I'd be surprised. But most poxy's are slow as hell so they'd be the last thing you'd want to use when streaming or downloading movies.

What??? Isn't it "continental US" which I find the phrase a bit offencive and undermining but that's usually what they mean when they say US only, when its actually North America only. It makes me think that just don't give a rats ass about any of the other countries in North America whenever they say continental US.

Its almost rediculous at best... I'm hearing that they are "regionalizing" the video stores the way they do with blu-ray discs.. and used to do with DVD's. This is probably a studio agreement of sorts. I'm not from Canada but I hear that there is a certain distrubutor that deals with several US studios and some of them are the ones partnered with PSN.

.. you guys should really just torrent the same movies (as they are ALL available thru torrents) just to prove that this limitation is not only inconvenient for you.. but its more expensive than the alternative.

I am happy that the service exists... but I'm expecting it to be better once integrated into HOME.

BTW... how did you get your "gamer tags" to show in your sigs?? I have one but it will only display the damn HTML I paste.

I'd get rid of the black sig, it makes it too big and it doesn't really serve a purpose.
