    I basically wanted to get a permanent fix ( autoupdate fix) for my dbox so that i can stop manually updating keys.

    I have been trying to make my dbox talk to to my computer but it just wont connect.
    ..My modem is connected to the PC via a USB cable.

    I have connected my dbox with a crossover cable [ CAT.5E UTP CABLE ]

    The following are my settings

    The PC Local Area Connection is set to
    IP Address 192.168.1.2
    Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway 192.168.1.1

    Dbox is set to
    IP address 192.168.1.3
    Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway 192.168.1.1

    i tried 2 ftp programs.. with all my anti-virus/firewall disabled

    Flash Fxp and loaded the setting of User= root
    password = dbox or dbox2
    Port :21

    Cute FTP Proffessional and loaded the setting of User= root
    password = dbox or dbox2
    Port :21

    In both of these i get the same result Connection timeout

    Can anyone give me any suggestions or a step by step tutorial to solve my problem.......???

    Thanks in advance
