I need the most help I can get :(

Hey,

my brothers friend gave my brother an iPhone 3G that works on Rogers network. Basicly what i want to know is how I can make it work on Fido? I understand that there are 3Gs for both Fido and Rogers, but it happens that were with fido and the phone is a rogers. We would very much like to use the phone. We aren't subscribed under the Data plan, but we are willing to use the phone only as an ipod and a phone, without the actual Data services.

So basicly my question to you is can I unlock the phone, put my fido sim card, and use it without having to change my plan, just like I would do with any other unlockable phone? Because I heard that there is now a fine for unlocking 3Gs.

I am very underknoledged when it comes to iPhones, so ANY help or advice would be strongly appreciated.
